DESTINATION GUIDE

Milos

Milos, in the heart of the Cyclades, combines volcanic landscapes, charming villages, and milky-blue water. Sarakiniko’s white rocks create an almost lunar setting, while Kleftiko’s arches and caves, accessible only by boat, reveal one of Greece’s most memorable coastlines. The island is compact and easy to explore by car, quad, or scooter, with beaches including Firopotamos, Tsigrado, Firiplaka, and Paliochori. At sunset, head to Plaka and then walk through Klima to see the colorful fishermen’s houses known as syrmata.

Milos also has important history at the early Christian Catacombs and ancient theater in Tripiti. Food is simple and flavorful: fresh fish, grilled octopus, salads, and local cheese-filled pitarakia. Boat tours are essential for Kleftiko, while calm coves are ideal for snorkeling, kayaking, and short coastal walks.
