Inside Bruce Peninsula National Park, Cyprus Lake Campground provides privileged trail access to the Grotto and more time beside Lake Huron.
Where is Cyprus Lake Campground?
Cyprus Lake Campground sits inside Bruce Peninsula National Park, south of Tobermory. Its greatest advantage is location: campers can reach the Grotto and Georgian Bay trails without competing for a separate day-use parking reservation.

The region is a long drive from Toronto and even farther from Montreal, so staying inside the park makes the journey more worthwhile.
Booking through Parks Canada
Sites are reserved through the Parks Canada system and popular summer dates disappear quickly. Create an account before reservations open, study the campground map and have alternative dates ready.
The process can feel competitive and the interface earned three stars from us. Confirm vehicle limits, equipment size, cancellation rules and check-in time.
Campground layout and facilities
Cyprus Lake has several loops with wooded, reasonably private sites. Facilities are basic: toilets, water points and service buildings rather than resort-style amenities. Some loops and site types differ, so read the exact listing.

Bring food and essential supplies because Tobermory is not beside the tent. Keep a clean campsite and follow food-storage rules.
Cyprus Lake
The lake provides calm water and a beautiful setting for paddling or an evening walk. It feels completely different from the colder, rocky Georgian Bay shoreline.

Wildlife
The park supports bears, snakes, small mammals and many birds. Do not feed wildlife. Store food, toiletries and scented items exactly as Parks Canada requires.
The Grotto
The Grotto is the region’s icon: a sea cave and rocky inlet filled with intensely blue Georgian Bay water. From the campground, trails make the visit part of a hike rather than a timed parking stop.

Rocks are uneven and slippery. The water is cold even in summer, and cliff jumping is dangerous. Wear proper shoes and remain on official routes.

Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths: exceptional location, direct trail access, beautiful forest, more flexibility for the Grotto and strong value compared with accommodation in Tobermory.
Weaknesses: competitive booking, basic facilities, limited convenience and insects during warm months. Access also requires planning because the park is remote.
Verdict
Yes, Cyprus Lake is one of the best bases for Bruce Peninsula. The campground itself earned three stars for facilities, access and booking, but the five-star natural setting lifts the overall experience to four.

Stay here for location and nature, not luxury. Waking inside the park and walking toward the Grotto before day visitors arrive is the real reward.
